OUCH!!

Well, Saturday and our race being a week away, I decided to see what the old body has in her. I set out to do a four hour walk. It was really nice when I started, but this is Missouri, so as the day wore on, the wind picked up and even though they said it was 50 degrees, I don't buy it. I walked Tucker around the park three times, and then went home to get Max. I got a drink, a snack and then headed out with dog # 2. We went around twice and I was feeling pretty tired, my tiny toe hurt, and it was just cold.
Well I got home, and Dawn showed up, go on you can do one more. So I got a snack, she gave me a patch for my toe(which didn't help), and I got a drink, go on she says, you can do just two more, think how good you'll feel doing just three more.
Well I did head out, and I made it around once, by then everything was hurting, so I did pack it in and headed home. I was out about a total of 4 and 1/2 hours, and walked 10.08 miles. Not too bad for an old woman.
Today I took both dogs for a short one, about a mile. There was a break in the rain, and I took advantage of it, but I was not moving very fast.
Tomorrow is another day, I plan for three laps, and probably no dogs.

Getting close

I can't believe we have not been using this blog to keep in touch. I am getting back in the swing of walking, I have a schedule and so far, we've had some great cooperative weather.
It's been pretty cold, but nice. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 60, yahoo. That will be great, I'm going to shoot for twice around English landing in Parkville.
Johnette, where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu?

Walking in Sunny, Hot, Humid Florida!

Hi Everyone.......waited to walk this morning until the work traffic had cleared and that was a mistake! By the time we (Star, Bart and I) got back home, about 10:00, we were pretty wet with sweat. I'm sure that isn't a problem for Donna and Debbie.

Speaking of Debbie.......haven't heard anything from you. Drop us a line and at least say Hi!

Just a note for Dawn......I received a phone call this week from Cindy Serafine and the former Kelly Smith. Kelly was in town to speak to a group of CEOs in the field of transportation and she and Cindy were out to dinner. Kelly was only here a couple of days, but it was good to talk with her. She travels a lot with her job, don't know if she gets through Kansas City. Do you have her email address? I told Cindy she should fly out to St. Louis and cheer you, and we chicks, on during the marathon.

Donna I was sorry to hear about your job at Christopher and Banks. They are one of my favorite stores, especially during their sales. I will have to rethink shopping there now.

Speaking of jobs, I recently made a change with mine. Loyal has been retired for three years now and was tired of all the phone calls and me working when he wanted to go off for a day or two. So I put my license with a referral company and am giving retirement a try. It really is a trade-off. Before I didn't have a lot of spare time, but I did have a little money. Now I have more time but not much money. I guess I will see which one I prefer!

Role Reversal

Well, it's the end of January today and that means we all have 2 months to wrap up our training for this FUN event! It's still plenty o' time, but you have to be dedicated and determined! I hope you're all still preparing and, more importantly, mentally preparing - this means you cannot be telling yourselves that you can't do it, etc. It is SO important to get mental toughness as well as building your physical endurance.

You chicks can do this - I know you can - and I'm REALLY looking forward to having you out there. This will be a really tough training weekend for me, and I'll be motivated and encouraged to keep on truckin', because you'll all be out there too!

Alright, enough of my rah-rah speech. I know we're all very busy, but try to keep in touch with each other to encourage and motivate. Train, train, train!
Woohoo - St. Louis or Bust!

Talk about a role reversal - my how the tables have turned, eh? Each of you had the opportunity to challenge and inspire me while I was growing up - now it's my turn to help move you toward this goal. How many years did it take for me to make the cheerleading squad? Yes, my friends, persistance and determination are key!!!

Hope you're all doing well!

Come on Now Twelve Weeks to go

I haven't heard from any of you, but we need to get moving out there. Max and Tucker and I walked with Dawn Saturday. It started out all pretty and warmish, in the 40's. But I thought it will be great this afternoon. WRONG!! It got very cold and pretty windy, but walk we did, about 4 miles at the English Landing park in Parkville, MO right along the river. It was a pretty walk, two trains came by, very long trains, and that made Tucker crazy. I thought I might die, but I didn't, so we, Bill and the boys and I, are going back today. It is supposed to be nice today. I am also going to fill out some apps today for a job. Soooooooo, what's up with the rest of you,
