I have been pretty busy lately. I have started some spring house cleaning. I am working diligently on a couple of quilts. But I am mostly trying to get my act together physically. Walking or any other sort of exercise is in great need now.
I have a goal of 3.1 miles on April 2, 2011. I know this does not sound very challenging, but when you haven't been off the couch in months, well, you know how it is. I have found that as I get older it gets harder.
So my blogging has taken a back seat to all other activities. I will get back to it soon.

Any one wanting to join my challenge of a 5K on April 2, please leave me a note. There's a great event in Kansas City called, " Rock the Parkway". I'll enter if you will.

Good morning

I think that chubby ol' whistle pig ah, ground hog  was right. It sure feels like spring. And since the temperatures have been rising, I knew I needed to hurry and get a picture of my favorite fountain in my favorite pose.

The 'Northland' fountain is one of my favorite sites. I love it when it is all frozen over. This is one of the only fountains in Kansas City that is left running all year round. I think it's great when a tiny trickle of water is still coming out of the icy towers. Thanks, KC.

I am planning on completing that scavenger hunt from my friend Deb's blog next week. I will give you the list, maybe you want to get in on this, too.

The 2.99 Special

We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the 'seniors' special' was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99.

'Sounds good,' my wife said. 'But I don't want the eggs.'

'Then, I'll have to charge you $3.49 because you're ordering a la carte,' the waitress warned her.


'You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?' my wife asked incredulously.


'YES!' stated the waitress.


'I'll take the special then,' my wife said..

'How do you want your eggs?' the waitress asked.


'Raw and in the shell,' my wife replied.


She took the two eggs home and baked a cake.

Quilt Day

I know I haven't been on here in a while, but I am trying to make some positive changes in my life and that requires time. I don't mean I don't have time to blog. I have just been doing other stuff.
Last Friday was quilt day, and we made our second quilt block of the month. It is called a Star in a Star. My friend Barbara calls it a Star in a Jar. I think she's a hoot.

         This is the block I made last Friday.  With a little help from my friends, OK a lot of help from my     friends. The blue points with the tan "V" in the middle are called ' flying geese'. Who knew?

This is the block I made from my 'Shop Hop' collection on Wednesday. It isn't so much a star in a star. I just could not follow the directions for this one, it was pretty different from the one above. So I gave up and did a nine patch in a star. I like it, though.

You know it is pretty satisfying when you take a pile of fabric and make it into something that will be a useful object. I love this. Sewing is my thing.

Poor teeny tiny little shnicker bunkin toodle doodle Tucker wucker shnucker shnoodle is waiting for his momma to come home from work and get him.

Lazy Snow Days

We got walloped by the 'STORM OF THE CENTURY'. It sounds scary, but having grown up in Buffalo, NY. I don't really see what all the fuss is about.
I shoveled the walk a couple of times yesterday while Max played in the snow and chased his tail and chunks of ice around the yard. Then I came in the house and watched old movies on TCM.
I guess they had a Susan Hayward day. I had never seen these before. There was Stolen Hours, she's dying and marries her doctor. Then The Honey Pot with Rex Harrison. He tricks three former lovers into thinking he's dying. I did that once when I was 10.  My Foolish Heart with Dana Andrews was another one. Where Love has Gone with Betty Davis was pretty good. Mike Conners was in this one, he was cute. I think my favorite of the collection was Top Secret Affair with Kirk Douglas. Oh my goodness he was gorgeous. 
I had not seen any of these before, at least I don't think so. I really enjoyed these even though the 'special effects' were kind of lame compared with what we see today.
Isn't it funny how our language has changed, some of these titles make them sound like very indecent movies. But everyone kept their clothes on and there was hardly,can't think of one, bad language. People used to have class. Now they all have crass.
I wish they would have had I Want to Live. I think I saw this one a long time ago, but can't really remember. I guess that's one of the bonuses of aging. Even if you've done it, seen it, read it, you don't remember. That keeps everything new and exciting.
